When you first got into affiliate selling it seemed like an easy no brainer. Right?
Yeah, same for me.
I thought it was a huge market place with tons of hungry customers. I thought the Internet was my oyster.
Once I got going, I found out it was a little tougher than I originally thought.
So along the way, I learned some good pointers. Things that strengthened my focus and put me on a high profit path.
I’d say the following 3 things were the most helpful:
- Select your target audience first before deciding on products.Zero in on a group of people with a particular interest or problem. The more specific the better. Find out what forums they use, what websites they visit–and what magazines or ezines they read. Get to know them-get to know their lingo. The more you sound just like them-the more likely they’ll buy from you..
- Choose a topic you’re deeply interested in (or want to learn about),and create a website around that theme. Choose affiliate products associated with that topic and blend the product links into your landing page copy using text links.
- Promote products in high demandAn Ernst & Young study found that the most popular products bought online are:* Computer related products (40%)
* Books (20%)
* Travel (16%)
* Clothing (10%)
* Recorded Music and Subscriptions (6%)
* Gifts (4%)
* Investment (4%)
These 3 tips are a good starting point for defining your affiliate business.
The next thing to consider though is how to get qualified traffic to your site. Let’s face it… you need at least 500 unique visitors a day.
That’s not to say 500 are going to purchase from you. But that’s how much you need to be profitable if only 1 or 2 per cent are going to buy from you.
Of course there are ways to get more than 1% buying from you:
The Affiliate Code
Most business people, online or off, have no clue how to effectively promote themselves. They think they run an ad and that’s enough.
A lot of them ALSO think struggling hand to mouth is the Rule of the game for he first couple of years.
Um…no it isn’t.
It doesn’t have to be that way…
Tell me the truth…do you know the top 5 things EVERY affiliate landing page needs? I’m talking about 5 things that convince visitors to click the buy button.
If you don’t know…or think MAYBE you know…it’s time to get your marketing savvy on-

When it comes to top Google ranking, affiliates have a big obstacle to overcome.
You’re selling something for someone else-and chances are others are too-including the original vendor.
You’re in competition with each other. And often the content and keywords on your website duplicate theirs.
Big no-no in Google Land.
If you want to set your website apart from other affiliates in your niche consider doing the following:
- Instead of using the content provided to you in an affiliate program,
come up with your unique copy. At the very least, change the wording around so you are no longer a carbon copy of every other affiliate in the niche.
- Try to sell products that are relevant to your targeted audience.
For example, if you’ve been selling weight loss products, don’t try to sell forex programs or golfing ebooks on that website. You can always create different landing pages for those categories.
- Let your website be more than just an ordering page
You ideally want loyal readership-and repeat customers. A good way to achieve this is to become a source of valuable information for the niche you are selling in. Some ways to do this are: discussion forums, user reviews, and blogs..
- Create a newsletter that readers subscribe to. Not only is this important for staying on customers’ radar-it’s also a way to notify them of new offers. Why wait for them to come to you?
- Keep your website content updated. This is particularly true for blogs and articles. Fresh, on-topic information increases the likelihood your site will be crawled by Googlebot and get better targeted traffic.
Those are good basic starters. Do these-and you’ll be miles beyond most affiliates.
However, you still have to contend with affiliate marketers who’ve figured this out already. They’re onto the next level of making serious money.
Affiliate Code shows you a more in-depth way to get top google ranking so you don’t have to worry about ANYONE outranking you…and stealing your business.
