Guess who Domino’s subniche is?

I don’t know if you eat Domino’s Pizza or not…

I personally don’t care for it-but I think their
marketing strategy is brilliant.

Do you know what got them off the ground and made them
stand out?

Catering to stoned college kids who had the munchies.

Yep…they built their business by delivering pizza to
dorms with LOTS of partying potheads

It was a no brainer really-yet no one else thought
of it.  At least not on a large scale basis.

Their strategy was to set up shop amongst their target
market-so they didn’t have to spend a ton on promo
either.

Just a bunch of flyers, maybe a brief mention on the
college radio station.  Nothing too fancy.

Between you and me-anybody with at least 2 taste
buds knows Domino’s is 3rd rate pizza…

But see…it doesn’t matter.

Domino’s tapped into the psyche of a VERY hungry
market.

Consider the company did this when the pizza business
was already getting-saturated.

There was neighborhood pizza.  There was gourmet
pizza.  There was Chicago-style pizza.

Domino’s zeroed in on that little subset of
consumers with revved up appetites and a tendency to
hang in groups.

That’s the power of niche marketing.  Find a
specific subgroup, identify their urgent need- then
go and give them what they want.

How to find your Subniche

I wonder what the online version of Domino’s is.
Any guesses?
