a webinar the other day with an adwords guru.
He suggested using a good testimonial line from a
customer as your adwords text. Just enough to add the
critical points and their first name.
He’s done it and said the results were good.
I’m about to try it myself—so I can’t swear by it.
However, here’s some marketing pointers to think
about to increase your chance of success. All of these
are techniques I HAVE USED in my own marketing.
· Make sure what you use from the testimonial is
specific and shows how the customer benefited. For
example: “Stubborn eczema on hands healed in 3
days” means more to the reader than “This product
made me ezcema free.”
· If the testimonial itself doesn’t include a
search term—be sure to include it in the ad title.
· Real estate is limited in adwords (and adsense).
So you need to get right to the point in as few words
as possible. It’s like haiku—a Japanese style of
brief poetry. Eliminating unnecessary words like
“the,” “a” “that,” “this” etc saves
space without losing the message.
· Grab attention by asking a question in the title.
It can be provocative: e.g., “Itching to walk off
job?” Or it can arouse curiosity: e.g., “Golfing
tip # 17”
Brad Callen uses keywords far more extensively than
just for adwords…but I thought this would be helpful
for running your ads.
