Worst job I ever had

Back in my college days, I took a part time job at a parking garage.

My job was to call customers past due on their parking bill.

I wasn’t supposed to get off the phone until I got a payment.

Ack.

The owners were a father and son team who were Triple A type  ersonalities.  They never talked.  They always screamed.

I lasted a little more than a month before I was let go.

The reason?

I refused to pick up their wives’ fur coats from the fur storage place.

In retrospect, being sent out on errands would’ve been far more pleasant than making harassing telephone calls.   But I guess at that point I was fed up and belligerent.

So I got fired.

I never quite had a job as bad as that in subsequent years.

But most of them weren’t really satisfying either.

Drudge work.  Little pay.  Long & frustrating commutes.

I’m dating myself here…but that was before the Internet.

Being self-employed back then was tougher.  The options were limited.  You either had to be selling a physical product or else offering a service.

And you needed money to get started.

Nowadays you’ve got more lucrative choices.

Imagine, no crummy A-type boss breathing down your back.  Working hours you want.  Earning income even when you’re not actually working.

All you need is a computer-and the hunger to make lots of money.
