How to optimize your affiliate website
It determines who is going to be most prominent on search engines-you or your competition.
Now…before you start to panic…
Optimizing your website is moderately easy. The biggest drawback is there are a lot of steps involved. None of them are all that difficult-but you do need to pay attention to detail.
Let me break it down and make it easier for you.
These are 6 things to pay attention to when optimizing your affiliate pages:
1. Write valid code. Whether you are writing to HTML 4.01 Transitional, XHTML 1.0 Strict, or another standard, make sure it meets the criteria.
You can run a test on your coding with W3C Validator. You can access it at http://validator.w3.org/.
2. Include the
The title-indeed, your entire site–should always use an active voice. (“Easy Weightloss Solutions,” for example, is better than “Solutions For Weightloss”)
3. Include a meta “description” tag (
Tip: Most meta tags--especially keywords--are not that helpful because a lot of other websites selling the same thing will use them too. The meta description tag, on the other hand, will be more unique.
4. Use tags for their intended purpose. For example, don’t create headings just by making a paragraph’s font bigger. Use the h1 or h2 heading tags. Search engine spiders look for coding variants so they can understand your site’s content.
5. Don’t use frames! In fact, try to avoid using images for headings.
If you do use images, always include an “alt” tag. Images with alternate text, housed in an alt tag are indexed by Google and other search engines much faster than those without alt tags.
6. Make your URLs search engine-friendly.
For example, www.fatburn.com/tips/food-combining is better than www.fatburn.com =678&id=4 When using separate words, use dashes between words instead of underscores.
That’s it.
If all this sounds doable-but you’re not a do-it-yourselfer-there’s another option…
Affiliate websites that are already fully optimized:
Notice I said websites and not website?
That’s because you can have as many affiliate sites as you want. In fact, I recommend you set up more than one.
Doesn’t cost you any more to do that.
There’s money in multitudes.
P.S. While we’re on the subject of SEO’d sites…what do you think of getting 3 optimized blogs delivered to you each month?
Yep….brand new blogs. Each one promoting a top-selling product. The earnings are all yours…
